MODULE 3
In this module, we had the opportunity to learn new tools that will help me improve my teaching when I become a teacher. Among them is how to create lesson plans. In this module, we learned how to optimize lesson plan creation by doing an exercise to recreate a lesson plan aligned with the National English Curriculum. In groups, we recreated the lesson plan with a Gem in Gemini. It gave us the opportunity to not only create a lesson plan, but a complete macro lesson plan in one night. Something that, in the traditional way, would have taken us many days to find activities that fit both the theme and the age of the students.
Another powerful feature of these tools is the benefit of creating material, as Gemini also helped us with the creation of images, handouts, etc. It is really advantageous to see how AI tools can speed up a process without losing the quality of the result, but rather delivering a result that is more focused on the objectives.
At this stage of our course, we also had the wonderful opportunity to interact with Google AI Studio, which is a powerful tool for building, testing, and deploying AI models using Google's advanced machine learning tools. With this tool, we set ourselves the task of creating applications that would help students in different ways. My work group focused on creating an application that would help students with their vocabulary, not only by giving them the meaning of the word, but also by creating exercises so that they could assimilate the word and integrate it into their conversations. Within the application, it is possible to listen to the pronunciation and check the students' pronunciation to verify how accurate it is.
The application also points out errors made by the student in both verbal and written form. This was created in just one hour of work, thanks to a prompt created with the help of ChatGPT and the development of the prompt in Google AI Studio. The technology that Google AI Studio offers for the educational field opens the door to the creation of customized applications that can be adapted to the different abilities and needs of students. Students with special needs, or who are unfamiliar with the language can use this tool to study the subjects assigned to them. Artificial intelligence has taught me that when used correctly, students can optimize their learning process and teachers can optimize their teaching process.
